About HawaiiStorm

HawaiiStorm was built by Mariano Crivello to put everything you need to make good decisions during storm season in one place.

Why it exists

I built the first version about a week before Hurricane Lowell hit us here on Kauai. Then, eight hours before the storm arrived, we lost our radar. Because we still had the rest of this data, we could prepare for a Category 2 storm hitting the island, rather than going only by what the NHC was saying. For days before it arrived, the Navy's model consistently showed the storm hitting the island.

Now I'm ready to share it. My hope is that it helps others, and that it adds some redundancy for when things go bad. When one source goes dark, the others are still here.

What it brings together

Not an official source

Nothing here is an official forecast. For life-safety decisions follow the National Weather Service in Honolulu (opens in a new tab), the Central Pacific Hurricane Center (opens in a new tab) and your county emergency management agency.
